Throughout the past thirty plus years my work has ranged widely in media and content, expanding an original concentration in drawing and printmaking. Sometimes my artworks are means of documenting a larger exploration, resulting as a kind of “residue.” Sometimes they involve collaboration or extended community involvement.

My process typically originates with an attempt to untangle a puzzle or problem that I have set for myself. Through the complex and mysterious discipline and process of art-making I can eventually break through to personal answers. It is necessary for me to continually set myself additional challenges that will keep me creatively, intellectually and emotionally engaged and offer a means to learn something new through the duration of each project.

My source material is usually something ephemeral and emotionally significant that I wish to rescue or mark in some way. Media and form are determined after considering and experimenting with several until the most appropriate vehicle is found through which I can address my chosen avenue of inquiry. Often some collage is involved, and when photographic imagery is an element the computer is used as a tool.

My visual goal is to create beautiful images from humble sources that might have been considered insignificant or unworthy of attention by someone else. It is important to me that my work can resonate with others for personal reasons of their own, and that my results are unlike anything else that I have seen.

For the last three years I have been focusing less on making art for exhibition purposes and have been intensely researching and writing a  non-art oriented book.
